2008 Conference

Our Annual Education Conference 2008 was held on the 14th and 15th of November in Bettystown, Co. Meath. The conference was officially opened by the Minister for Education & Science, Batt O’ Keeffe, who spoke about the high standard of the Irish-Medium education system. This was followed by conference guest speaker, Professor Colin Baker, with his very interesting talk outlining the advantages of the system.

Many workshops, focusing on practical questions for schools at both primary and post-primary level, were organised. The transcripts of these, available exclusively through Irish, can be viewed on the Irish version of this page.

The Organisation’s Strategic Plan 2008 – 2011 was also launched at the Conference. The Strategic Plan provides a roadmap towards the planned establishment of more than 20 national and 10 secondary Irish medium schools by 2013.
