The Financial Support Services Unit (FSSU) was established in 2005 under Department of Education and Skills (DES) Circular M36/05. The FSSU is a support mechanism for schools which enables them to comply with the provisions of the Education Act 1998 in terms of accountability, transparency and financial responsibility for State funding. Under the aegis of the JMB, the FSSU acts as a link between schools and the DES.
