Letterkenny Gaelscoil selected as finalist in national music competition

Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin in Letterkenny has been selected as a finalist in the 2016 Waltons Music for Schools Competition.
Primary and post-primary schools from every county in the country have entered this prestigious national competition, which is not in its fifth year.
To enter, schools send an entry form with information about the school and its music programme and an entry video of a piece or song that address the competition’s theme of ‘Why Music?’ and an image of the school’s performing group.
The theme is on the importance of music in our lives.
Each year, twelve school music groups (six primary and six post-primary) are selected by an initial judging panel to perform in a gala Finalists Concert, in which they perform before their peers and distinguished adjudicators and compete for prizes totalling €10,000 worth of vouchers for musical instruments and equipment from Waltons Music.
Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin in Letterkenny was selected as a Finalist this year, and Loreto Secondary School in Letterkenny was Highly Commended.
