Gael Linn to run Scléip 2015
September 10, 2014
Scléip is a national talent contest for Irish-medium and Gaeltacht post-primary schools. It’s a fun and inspiring event for students and their teachers.
From this year onwards, Gael Linn will take over from Gaelscoileanna Teo. as organisers of Scléip. We’d like to thank all of the schools that have supported Scléip since Gaelscoileanna Teo started it in 2005 and we hope that you’ll keep the show on the road and that it’ll get even bigger and better under Gael Linn’s stewardship.
Gael Linn will be putting a particular emphasis on contemporary arts this year and teachers whose students took part in previous years will notice some small changes to some of the categories. Scléip brochures, application forms and rules are all available on the Gael Linn website, www.gael-linn.ie. Any enquiries about Scléip can be sent by email to seanc@gael-linn.ie.
Entrants from all schools will have a chance to participate in the heats and the winners will be invited to take part in the Scléip final. The dates for the heats have not yet been confirmed, but please note that they will take place during the first term this year, during school hours at the end of November or in early December 2014. Gael Linn hope to host a heat in each province so that no school will have too far to travel. Once the entries have been received, the venues and dates will be confirmed. The final will take place on Saturday, January 24th, 2015, in Dublin.
Entry fees this year have been reduced and no school will have to pay more than €50.
Gael Linn hope that all aspiring pop stars, dancers, actors, etc. will take part this year and that the competition will inspire and challenge students and teachers alike! The closing date for entries is October 24th, 2014.
