Names chosen for the new schools opening in 2013!

June 5, 2013

GAELSCOILEANNA TEO. would like to give a warm welcome to Gaelscoil na Giúise (Firhouse, Dublin 24), Gaelscoil Shliabh Rua (Stepaside, Dublin 18) agus Gaelscoil Mhic Aodha (Kildare Town), 3 new irish-medium primary schools due to open in September 2013. There was great excitement recently when the schools’ principals and parents chose names for them; ‘Gaelscoil na Giúise’ refers to the fir trees from which Firhouse, the school’s location, gets its name, ‘Sliabh Rua’ is a historical name for the nearby Three Rock Mountain and as Gaelscoil Mhic Aodha’s permanent location is to be in the old McGee Barracks, the school community decided to recognise the history of the site in the school’s name.

We wish these new schools the very best as they prepare to open their doors for the first time in September. An Foras Pátrúnachta will be patron of all three schools and they will be coeducational and mulitdenominational. Contact Clare on 01 8535193 or cspainneach@gaelscoileanna.ie for general information on new schools, and contact An Foras Pátrúnachta directly for information on enrolment. There are places available for September 2013!
