RnaG celebrating Seachtain na nÓg

April 16, 2013

This week RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will celebrate all things ‘Tots, Tweens and Tweens’ as part of RTÉ’s Youth Week.

All week on Irish Aniar at 09.08am there will be a series of interviews with young people living in the west of Ireland. There will be an open discussion on the following questions: What do they like about living in a rural Gaeltacht area? What are the challenges they face? Are there services for young people? Are they getting equal treatment to young people in other areas?

On 17 April on An Saol ó Dheas at 12.08, Helen Ní Shé will visit Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne in Dingle to speak to young people in the region about the different aspects of their lives. The programme will also include packages from Meánscoil San Nioclás in the Waterford Gaeltacht, and Coláiste Ghobnatan in the Cork Gaeltacht.

The winners of Rónán Beo @3’s Battle of the Bands competition will be announced on the show this Friday, 19 April. The competition challenged secondary school students all over the country to compose modern songs in Irish and the winning song will soon be unveiled.

Sinéad Ní Uallacháin will be speaking to young primary school children about their opinion of the painting ‘American Gothic’ by Grant Wood on Saturday morning 10 am on Thall ‘s Abhus.

On Sunday, Neansaí Ní Choisdealbha will be joined by a young co-presenter from 8am – 10am. Neansaí held a national competition offering a chance to a young person interested in radio and music to co-present her show Béal Maidine.
