Leaving Cert: Smiles on Stillorgan campus as students collect

Lúnasa 12, 2015

Leaving Certificate students in Dublin’s Coláiste Eoin and Coláiste Íosagáin were celebrating as they collected their results this morning.

Almost 58,000 Leaving Cert students will receive their results, with college offers through the Central Applications Office (CAO) being issued next Monday.

At the two gaelscoileanna in Stillorgan, located on the same campus, students were gathering from 8.30am after what was, for some, a long night. “I was very nervous,” says Sean Maas. “I didn’t sleep at all.”

Mr Mass had no need to lose sleep, achieving 625 points and leaving him confident he will be offered his first choice, engineering in University College Dublin.

Across the campus at Íosagáin, students seemed to have had a calmer night.

“I was actually grand”, said Molly McGrath. “I just thought ‘what’s done is done’. I slept, suprisingl well.”

Ms McGrath was delighted with her result – 530 points.

She was confident that her result would get her a place in her first choice, sociology and geography in Trinity College Dublin.

For Carmel Ní Cumascaigh, it was smiles all around.

“When exams finished I just put it out of my mind as quickly as possible,” she said.

“I figured out what my best and worst case scenario was, and that really helped clear my head.”

She was delighted to receive 605 points and is hoping to get offered a place in psychology and music in Trinity.
