Job Description

Naíonra Childcare Worker required to work with children aged 3 – 5 years old within an ECCE setting. The candidate must have excellent experience and extensive knowledge of young children’s needs as well as great communication skills to interact with children, parents and colleagues. The position will require the employee to be flexible.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications (minimum FETAC Level 6)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar environment.
  • Proven classroom management skills
  • Proven communication and organisational skills
  • Fluent English/Irish both spoken and written
  • Ability to use own initiative and work as part of a team
  • A Knowledge of relevant legislation & regulations
  • A working knowledge of Aistear & Siolta
  • Two written references
  • First Aid/Manual Handling & Garda Vetting are an advantage

To be self motivated and have a vibrant and energetic approach to work.  Good organizational skills.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. To be flexible and a team player willingness to attend workshops, training and staff meetings.  Demonstrate initiative and the ability to cope under pressure in a professional manner at all times.

Key Responsibilities of the position

  • To ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Naíonra Class
  • To ensure the welfare of the children in your care and act as a role model for Lámha Beaga with parents.
  • Keep the Managers informed of any issues as they arise.
  • Planning and implementing Curriculum for Naíonra Class
  • Planning the daily activities of the Room
  • Planning a curriculum based on children’s emergent interests
  • Ensuring the overall safety & well being of the children
  • Ensuring a good standard of hygiene
  • Ensuring that equipment is well maintained & safe to use
  • Maintaining Daily Records
  • Communicating with Parents
  • Adhering to Policies and Procedures at all times
  • Attending Meetings when required
  • Attending Training Sessions when required
