News from Bunscoil an Iúir

Children from Rang 6/7 Bunscoil an Iúir recently took part in Bunscoil’s Public Speaking Competition (through the medium of Irish). The theme was “Duine a thugann ionspioráid dom” “A person Who Inspires Me”
Winners were: Blinne Ní Choigligh, Mya McGaughey, Sean Owen McCaul and Maire Murphy. Blinne’s speech was about Caroline O’Hanlon a local doctor, captain of Carrickcruppen and Armagh Ladies, Mya spoke of Nelson Mandela, Sean Owen of Mahatma Gandhi and Maire spoke of Chuck Close a Dyslexic Artist.
Included in the photograph are John Murphy (Elliott Trainor Partnership – Sponsor), Maria Nic Fhearchair (Prímohoide/Principal) and Seamas Mac Dháibhéid, Adjudicator and some of the children from Rang 6/7 Bunscoil an Iúir. Seamas spoke of how impressive the delivery of the speeches were, and the very high standard of the content. Most of all the standard of Irish was excellent.
The children from Rang 7 Bunscoil an Iúir recently visited the Rann na Feirste Gaeltacht on their end of school Year trip. They had a great time and a packed programme of events. They spent a lot of time with local young people (included in the photograph), and had activities at the local Aislann Rann na Feirste and Club Óige Rann na Feirste and Scoil Naomh Bhride.
