(Gaeilge) Local entries encouraged for Irish language film competition

Oireachtas na Gaeilge recently announced a brand new and exciting Irish language film competition to add to their media awards this year.

With interest in the Irish language in Dundalk growing, people from the area are being encouraged to enter.

The competition is open to recently produced Irish language films that are no more than 30 minutes long.

Entries to the competition are limited to films that have been completed between the 1st March 2015 and 5th April 2016. However, there is no limit with regards to the genre, theme, style or budget of the production.

“We’re delighted to announce this new short film competition as part of our annual media awards”, says Liam Ó Maolaodha, Director of an tOireachtas.

“This competition offers a new platform to Irish language filmmakers and it provides an important opportunity to exhibit their work to the Irish language media sector”, he said.

Screenings of the short films will be held in the Salthill Hotel, Galway, on Friday May 13th ahead of the awards ceremony that evening. The format of the film should be MP4 and entries are welcome online through YouTube or Vimeo. The closing date for entries is Tuesday April 5th
